      Connection Series

Predominately created during the strange times of covid. Where, where I live nature started taking back, as humanity retreated and became quieter.

I have always been drawn to wild side of nature, wilderness. Free from the sounds of humanity, and our stuff. We are, so loud.

      The symbolism in this series:

BIRDS: Humanity flying through a landscape that has been before and will be after we are gone. We are a blink of an eye within earth’s history. We are a dot of the circle of time.

MOUNTAINS: are earth, they are stronger than us and in relation to our timespan, eternal. Though nothing is eternal, it gives us this feeling.

STICKS: I found a circle of sticks after a storm on a walk. They were like that already, I picked it up and hung it on the wall in my studio. It became a symbol for me of connection. It is a fact that, everything in nature is connected, these connections make all that live on earth stronger, plant and animals. We, as humans live outside of nature most of the time, we make our own habitats and this disconnects us from the very thing that sustained us, and caused us to flourish into who we are now. The problem is, the more we disconnect from earth’s natural world, the more we cause harm. Connections break, and we are causing our own destruction. It is a weird phenomenon that we are the only animal on earth that doggedly continues to destroy its only home. And doing so is causing its own destruction, eventually.

      Earth. Is. Home.
